FRANKFORT — The Department for Local Government (DLG) selected Harlan County for an award of $95,783.20 in Recreational Trails Program (RTP) funds to construct a new 1-mile equestrian trail to connect Great Eastern Trail and Pine Mountain Trail.

“Preserving and maintaining local trails and park is an integral part of stewarding resources so that they might be enjoyed by all,” said DLG Commissioner Sandra Dunahoo. “The investment in the new 1-mile connector trail in Harlan County will yield many benefits to the families and outdoor enthusiasts of this community.”

“These enhancements will provide local residents a convenient place for outdoor recreation and physical activity,” said Sen. Johnny Ray Turner. “I appreciate Harlan County leaders seeking these funds and the Department for realizing the value of investing in these improvements.”
