Black Bears sweep Bell County

The Harlan County freshman and junior varsity teams swept a doubleheader Monday at Bell County, winning 62-46 in junior varsity action and 54-28 in the freshman game.

Freshman guards Daniel Carmical and Jonah Swanner scored 23 and 16 points, respectively, as HCHS improved to 4-4 in junior varsity action. Freshman forward Tristan Cooper chipped in with 13 points.

Cole Hoskins and Dawson Widener led Bell County with nine points each.

The HCHS freshmen improved to 3-0 as Cooper scored 13 points and Dylan Hick added 10 to lead the Bears.

Cooper had six points and Hicks added five in the opening quarter as the Bears raced to an 11-3 lead.

Jeremiah Clem and Swanner teamed for five points in the second quarter as the HCHS lead grew to 30-13 by halftime.

Daniel Thomas scored 12 points and George Pace tossed in 10 for the Bobcats.

Harlan County is scheduled to return to action Thursday at Leslie County.
