A Bledsoe man is facing charges including possession of methamphetamine after police allegedly found him in possession of the drug during a traffic stop.

Lack Bailey, 35, was arrested on Friday by Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputy Dakota Torstrick.

According to a press release, deputies were on patrol in the Evarts area and stopped a vehicle just after 2 a.m.

The citation states police stopped Bailey after he failed to stop for a stop sign. Bailey allegedly failed a sobriety test. Police searched the vehicle, locating a suspected meth pipe containing a white crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Bailey was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and disregarding a stop sign. He was also served with two Harlan County bench warrants and a Bell County bench warrant.

Bailey was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $1,500 full cash bond.

In other police activity:

• Robert Hughett, 44, of Harlan, was arrested on Friday on an indictment warrant by Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputy Philip Ely. He was indicted for second-degree trafficking a controlled substance. He was additionally served with a bench warrant. Hughett was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $2,000 unsecured bond;

• James Shepherd, 27, of Evarts, was arrested on Saturday by Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputy Hunter Marcum. Shepherd was charged with first-degree trafficking a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center;

• Brittany Smith, 26, of Wallins, was arrested by Marcum on Sunday. She was charged with first-degree trafficking a controlled substance, first-degree promoting contraband and tampering with physical evidence. Smith was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center;

• Derek Hensley, 39, of Cawood, was arrested on Sunday by Torstrick on a Harlan County bench warrant. Further investigation led to an addition charge of theft of identity of another without consent. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center;

• Sean Allen Kirkpatrick, 44, of Nicholasville, was arrested by Kentucky State Police Trooper Brandon Burton on Monday. He was charged with first-degree trafficking a controlled substance, improper equipment, failure to dim headlights and no operators/moped license. Kirkpatrick was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
