For Kim and Bryan Howard, travel has become just a little bit more than a summer event for their family.

Kim Howard, a teacher at Harlan County High School, has started Kimber Travel, turning her passion for traveling into a business.

“My family and I love to travel. I love to plan travel. We have been doing our own family traveling for years and have seen many beautiful and exciting places,” she said. “Being a family of five, we are well versed in the art of knowing when and where to get the best travel deals, as well as the ins and outs of traveling with kids.”

Howard said the experiences that come with vacations provide lifetime memories.

“Families bond during vacations. They can focus more on having fun with each other rather what needs to be done around the house, or rushing off to run errands. Some of our most memorable family times have been during a family vacation,” she said. “I love to have the opportunity to help other families plan their getaway and make those priceless lasting memories.”

Howard said an extended vacation isn’t as expensive as many believe.

“The travel industry is growing. More and bigger cruise ships are built each year, and tour companies are building exciting itineraries in all parts of the world. Cruising is growing in popularity due to the all inclusive price which incorporates all meals and entertainment on board as well as being able to tour exotic destinations,” she said. “Many people think that they can’t afford a cruise or an all inclusive vacation. However, when you factor in the costs of an a la carte vacation with hotel stay, food and entertainment, an all inclusive vacation like a cruise is a good value because of all that is included and the wonderful destinations you will visit.“
