A woman was airlifted from the Black Mountain Off-Road Adventure Area on Monday afternoon after suffering severe back injuries sustained during a four-wheeler wreck. The individual’s daughter said her mother frequently goes riding in mountains, a lot of the time by herself, but she was grateful her mother went with a few others. She added her mother is a “firm believer in wearing helmets” and she “thanks God” her mother didn’t have any head injuries. The 57-year-old was airlifted from the scene of the accident to keep from injuring her any further. Harlan County Emergency Management, Lifeguard Ambulance Service and Air Evac all responded to the call and worked together to get the woman immediate medical attention.
