Emersyn Leigh Noah, a senior at Harlan High School, is the Monticello Banking Company’s Student Citizen Award recipient for March. Here, MBC Personal Banker II Kevin Cavins presents a $100 honorarium and the award to Emersyn. MBC is dedicated to this recognition program to honor outstanding students in the Harlan County and Harlan Independent school districts. Faculty and administrators from each district nominate students demonstrating exceptional academic achievement, leadership, sports and community participation. The daughter of Dondi and Stacy Noah, Emersyn is a member of the Gifted and Talented Leadership and General Intellect at HHS. She is an alum of the Rogers program and an ambassador for the Cawood Ledford Boys and Girls Club. She is a member of the Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Musettes, the yearbook staff and a cheerleader. She plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She plans to work in a rehabilitation setting.

Faculty and administrators from each district nominate students demonstrating exceptional academic achievement, leadership, sports and community participation. The daughter of Jeffery and Robin Shoemaker, she is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America and the Spanish Club. She participated in the Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative’s Educational Summit and the Entrepreneurial Coal Lands Redevelopment Program. She plans to attend Alice Lloyd College to complete a bachelor of science degree in biology. She plans to then enroll at the University of Kentucky to pursue a doctorate in general human anatomy surgery.
