Gist powers Redskins in win over Rosspoint

Johann Gist was one of three Redskins in double figured with 20 points as Cumberland downed Rosspoint 50-42 in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action Monday.

Jonah Swanner and Jaedyn Gist added 16 and 10 points, respectively, for the Redskins.

Thomas Jordan scored 18 points to lead Rosspoint. Isaac Kelly added 10 points.

Led by 13 points from Brody Napier and 12 from Noah Brewer, Rosspoint won 42-17 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Darius Akal paced the Redskins with 10 points.

Rosspoint won 11-3 in a fourth-grade game as Blake Hensley led the Wildcats with four points.

Ward, Cochran lead Evarts to win over Black Mountain

Jayden Ward scored 16 points and Tristan Cochran added 12 as Evarts rolled past Black Mountain 36-12 in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action Tuesday.

Hayden Jones led Black Mountain with six points.

Evarts won 33-19 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game as Dion Brown led the Wildcats with 12 points.

Reggie Cottrell scored seven for Black Mountain.

Brody Freeman led Evarts to a 19-7 win in the fourth-grade game as he scored six points.

Lane Grubbs, Tucker Hatmaker and Trenton Cole each scored 12 points as Wallins won 46-44 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Cumberland rolled to a 30-14 win in fifth- and sixth-grade action as Darius Akal led the Redskins with eight points.

Sedrick Washington scored four points as Cumberland won 12-2 in a fourth-grade game.
