Donations will be accepted for the Mountain Santa project at the Village Center Mall on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and at the red light in Wallins from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 2. Although the Mountain Santa himself, also known as Mike Howard, is currently battling stage four lung cancer, his daughter April Galloway says the Mountain Santa will not be stopped. “We’re right on schedule,” Galloway said. she explained the roadblock donations fund the treat bags which are given out along with toys which are collected year-round. “It buys the fruit and the candy,” Galloway said. “We buy 7,000 apples, 7,000 oranges, 14,000 Reese’s Cups and 3,500 Kit Kat bars.”
