Jones, Fields lead Trojanettes to win

In a showdown of two of the county’s top seventh- and eighth-grade teams, James A. Cawood traveled to Evarts on Tuesday and emerged with a 47-31 victory.

Seventh-grade guard Kylie Jones scored 14 points and seventh-grade center Abbi Fields added 12 to lead the Trojanettes.

Kaylee Clark scored 13 and Ashley Preston added 12 for Evarts.

Jaiden Marlow scored 23 points as JACES won 38-36 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Tori Robinson led Evarts with 12 points.

Karst powers Harlan over Barbourville

Ella Karst scored 17 points to lead Harlan to a 36-21 win Monday over Barbourville.

Harlan fell 35-30 to Pineville on Tuesday. Karst led the Lady Dragons with 14 points.

Harlan rolled to a 23-14 win over Barbourville in fifth- and sixth-grade action. Maliyah Washington scored 10 for the Lady Dragons.

The Lady Dragons fell 33-14 to Pineville. Raegan Goodman scored 10 to lead Harlan.

Barbourvile won 13-9 in a fourth-grade game Monday.

Harlan returns to action Thursday at Lynn Camp.

Clem leads Cawood past Black Mountain

Taylor Clem poured in 21 points to lead Cawood in a 35-13 win Monday at Black Mountain in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball.

Chelsey Cottrell led Black Mountain with six points.

Cheyanne Rhymer scored 16 points and Maddie Middleton added 14 as Cawood rolled to a 38-6 win in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Rhymer poured in 28 points as Cawood downed Wallins 34-8 on Tuesday to improve to 11-0 on the season.

Rosspoint fell 33-20 to visiting Middlesboro on Monday.

Wilson led the Lady Cats with 20 points.
