A Helton man is facing charges including wanton endangerment of a police officer after police allegedly found him in possession of knives and a syringe while attempting to serve warrants at a residence.

According to the citation, Jones and officers from the Harlan City Police Department attempted to serve warrants on a woman at her family’s residence. Police were given permission to search the residence, during which Harlan City Police Sgt. Jeff Owens located Wilson hiding in a back room connected to the kitchen. Wilson gave police a false name and date of birth. While patting Wilson down to check for weapons, Jones found a syringe with the cap halfway off, with the needle sticking up inside Wilson’s pocket.
