On Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m., Cawood Elementary School along with Cumberland, Harlan, James A. Cawood and Rosspoint Elementary Schools will gather to take part in the Kentucky Colonels Sixth Grade Academic Showcase, an academic event sponsored by the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels and administered by the Kentucky Association for Academic Competition.

Written assessment include the areas of mathematics, science, social studies, language arts and arts/humanities.

The quick recall competition begins at 11 a.m. First round: Rosspoint vs. JACES and Cawood vs. Harlan. Cumberland received a first round bye.

Awards will immediately follow in the gymnasium at Cawood elementary.
