A man is facing several charges, including wanton endangerment, after allegedly trying to steal a car by pulling a gun on a woman.

Joshua Starrett, 29, was arrested by Harlan City Police Department officers on March 5.

According to the warrant, Starrett knowingly used a stolen firearm to commit a crime. Starrett pulled a gun on the alleged victim and used vulgar language demanding she get out of her car. The victim stated that she was scared and didn’t know if he was going to kill her or just take the car. The victim put the car in reverse and left the scene to go call for help.

Another warrant adds that when Starrett was approached by an officer, he threw the firearm at the officer and proceeded to flee on foot.

Starrett was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), first-degree robbery, receiving stolen property (firearm) and possession of firearm by a convicted felon. Starrett was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $10,000 full cash bond.

Starrett was also arrested on Jan. 28 following a complaint of a fight at The Commissary.

Officers were able to identify Joshua and Malinda Starrett, both of which said there was no physical contact. Starrett reportedly put something into his mouth, then took it out and said it was “Neurontin.” Officers recovered three pills after Starrett admitted he had taken a total of five, according to the citation.

Starrett was charged with third-degree possession of controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence for his Jan. 28 offense.

• Flossie Cleaver, 36, of Cawood, was arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Department officers on March 7. She was charged with non-payment of court fines and was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a pay or stay bond of $733;

• Jamie Estes, 39, of Lexington, was arrested by Cumberland Police Department officers on March 8. She was charged with careless driving, possession of marijuana and operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence. She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center;

• Jessie Franks, 37, of Cumberland, was arrested by Cumberland Police Department officers on March 7. He was charged with failure to appear, receiving stolen property (under $10,000), possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and tampering with physical evidence. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a total pay or stay bond of $796;

• Timmy Gray, 50, of Flat Lick, was arrested by Harlan County Detention Center officers on March 6. He was charged with false or forged prescription, theft of legend drug (under $300) and persistent felony offender II. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $10,000 full cash bond.
