Harlan man faces charges for stolen Polaris

A Harlan man is facing charges, including criminal mischief, after allegedly receiving a stolen Polaris RZR 1000.

Charles Dozier, 42, was arrested by the Kentucky State Police on Feb. 27. According to the complaint warrant, Dozier knowingly possessed a stolen Polaris RZR 1000 belonging to Kayla Smith on Dec. 13, 2018. Dozier then left the stolen Polaris in Wallins later located by KSP.

The Polaris was allegedly damaged in excess of $1,000 during the time it was recovered.

Dozier was charged with first-degree criminal mischief, receiving stolen property of $10,000 or more, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance (over 2 grams of methamphetamine), third-degree trafficking a controlled substance (unspecified), trafficking of marijuana (less than 8 ounces), possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, persistent felony offender I, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, second- and third-degree possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of a legend drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.

He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $25,000 full cash bond.

In other police activity:

• Paula Goddard, 44, of Cumberland, was arrested by Cumberland Police Department officers on Feb. 26. She was charged with first-degree trafficking a controlled substance and first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $5,000 full cash bond;

• Jimmy Pike, 29, of Evarts, was arrested by Harlan City Police Department officers on Feb. 23. He was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and serving parole violation warrant. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $7,000 cash bond secured by 10 percent;

• Shane Bowling, 28, was arrested by Evarts Police Department officers on Feb. 23. He was charged with first- and second-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $2,500 full cash bond;

• Leslie Smith, 30, of Cawood, was arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Department officers on Feb. 27. She was charged with drug court sanction and was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center;

• Jessica Amburgey, 28, of Baxter, was arrested by Probation and Parole officers on Feb. 27. She was charged with a probation violation and was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center;

• Angel Foley, 23, of Cawood, was arrested by Kentucky State Police officers on Feb. 25. She was charged with failure to appear, third-degree trafficking a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying of a concealed weapon, failure to wear seatbelts and no operator’s moped license. She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $1,500 full cash bond.
