Knox, North advance to 13th Region finals

CORBIN — North Laurel upset South Laurel and Knox Central downed Corbin in the semifinals of the 13th Region Tournament on Friday at The Arena in Corbin.

Knox Central earned a spot in the championship game with a 65-55 win over Corbin in the opening semifinal Friday.

Senior center Nick Martin scored 20 points to lead the Panthers. Jaylen Adams, a senior guard, scored 18. Sophomore Jevonte Turner came off the bench to add 16 points.

Chase Sanders, Alex Byrley and Matthew Taylor each scored 16 for the Redhounds.

Cole Kelley led North with 17 points, including three 3-pointers. Isaiah Alexander tossed in 14, followed by Reed Sheppard and Landon Young with 12 each.

Matthew Dalton scored 15 and J.J. Ramey added 14 in their final game with the Cardinals. Brett Norvell added 12 points.

The championship game is set for Saturday at 7 p.m.
