Students participate in all-festival choir

Seven students from the Harlan Independent School participated in the 67th annual Southeastern Kentucky Music Association’s All-Festival Choir in London. Twenty schools were represented in the three-day choral festival.
The SATB Choir was directed by John Stegner, who is an adjunct professor at Bluegrass Community and Technical College. He is currently a minister of music and is the founder and conductor of Les Jonglures, a semi-professional ensemble in Lexington. Marilyn Schraeder, choral director at Harlan Independent School, was the accompanist. Schraeder has accompanied the SATB Choir for 47 years.
Musette members participating in the SATB Choir were Abigail Baker, Brooklyn M. Collins, Alyssa Moses and MaryBeth Smith; Boys Choir members were Kyle Allison, Drew Burnette and Shane Lindsey.
