Conner Roberts ran for four touchdowns and passed for two others as Pikeville reached the end zone seven times in the first half to start a running clock on the way to a 47-14 win Friday over visiting Harlan in the first round of the Class A playoffs.

Roberts teamed with Jackson Hensley for a 30-yard touchdown pass only 18 seconds into the game.

A 20-yard touchdown run with Roberts with 6:42 left in the first quarter, followed by the first of five Tanner Hamilton extra points, pushed the Panthers’ lead to 13-0.

Pugh had 20-yard touchdown run and Roberts followed with a 21-yard touchdown run only 42 seconds apart as Pikeville built a 27-0 lead after one quarter.

Roberts had touchdown runs of 33 and 3 yards in the second quarter to push the lead to 40-0. Roberts teamed with Pugh for a 13-yard touchdown pass with 1:59 left in the half to close the scoring for the Panthers.

Will Varner teamed with Jon Eldridge for a 15-yard touchdown pass with 5:40 left and then the duo hooked up again for the two-point conversion.

Harlan defensive lineman Kyle Allison scooped up a fumble and took it 40 yards for a touchdown on the game’s final play.

Pikeville will travel to Williamsburg on Friday in the second round of the playoffs. The Green Dragons ended the seasons with a record of 3-8.
