Lady Dragons rally for win over W-burg

Down 4-0 after the first half inning, the Harlan Lady Dragons battled from behind to claim an 8-5 win Monday over Williamsburg on Senior Night.

“This season our girls have had to adapt to a lot of things, and tonight wasn’t any different,” Harlan coach Alex Pennington said. “We have had to move a lot of people around to play positions they haven’t played in a while, but I felt that they all did very well and made the adjustments. Our bats are starting to come alive when they need to. Tese girls are going to keep working hard to achieve the goals they set out for at the beginning of the season.”

Eighth-grader Reagan Jones led the Lady Dragons with three singles and an RBI. Payton Bennett drove in two runs with a double and single. Makayla Sizemore had a double. Haven Saylor, Kaitlyn Cornett, Angel Wynn and Kailey Cornett each added one single.

Bennett earned the win as she pitched a five-hitter with four strikeouts and one walk.

Caddell led Williamsbur with a double and single. Pruitt and Lamb each contributed one double. Chapman added a single.

Harlan (5-9) travels to Jenkins on Friday. Williamsburg (0-16) plays host to Whitley County on Thursday.
