On April 27, approximately 100 walkers and supporters took to the streets, specifically Main Street in downtown Harlan, for the 11th annual 100 Man March Against Domestic Violence.

The annual march, sponsored by the Harlan County Domestic Violence Council and Cumberland Valley Domestic Violence Services, is part of an international effort to engage men and boys to help end violence against women.

The march is to highlight the need to combine respect and safety with romance and love and to highlight positive masculinity; to challenge the notions of masculinity that equate strength with violence and control and instead foster positive images that will help create a world free of abuse.

Before the walk began, District Judge Scott Lisenbee led walkers in the following pledge: “From this day forward, I promise never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women, sexual assault and domestic violence.”
