Lynn Camp eliminates HHS in All ‘A’ tourney

CORBIN — Lynn Camp notched its third straight win on Tuesday and advanced to semifinal action of the 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic by outlasting Harlan 20-10.

Lynn Camp (3-2) pounded out 16 hits while using a seven-run third inning to take control of the game.

“It was a big win for us and our program,” Lynn Camp coach Rob Ledington said. “We are really hitting the ball well, top to bottom. We did a horrible job taking care of the ball tonight. We must get better at that moving forward.”

Kilian Ledford, Evan Browning and Shane Lindsey each had two hits for the Dragons. Will McCarthy, Michael Robinson, Kanyon Hall and Andrew Roark added one hit each.

McCarthy suffered the loss as he started and gave up four runs in one inning. Robinson allowed 13 runs (three earned) in four innings. Browning recorded two outs and allowed three runs. Lindsey also pitched.

Harlan pitchers were hurt by 16 errors.

Lynn Camp had three players finish with at least four hits, and one with three hits while two others turned in two hit efforts. Eric Mitchell has four hits, three triples, four RBI and three runs scored while Chad Brown totaled four hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Cameron Gilbert also had four hits and drove in one run and scored three times. Luke Ledington followed with a three-hit performance. He also drove in three runs and scored once. Tyler Lewis was two for three with three RBI and two runs scored. Datrick Roberts turned in a two-hit effort along with two RBI.

The Wildcats took a 3-1 lead in the first inning before pushing their advantage to 7-1 in the second inning. The Green Dragons cut their deficit to 7-3 in the top of the third inning before seeing Lynn Camp score seven runs in the bottom half of the third to take a commanding 14-3 advantage. Harlan responded with six runs in the top of the fourth to make the score, 14-9, and the Green Dragons added another run in the top of the fifth. The Wildcats put the game away for good with three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.

Ledington got the win on the mound. He allowed 10 hits in six innings of work while allowing only three earned runs. He also struck out eight batters.
