Dragons, minus Akal, fall at Lee

Playing without star guard Jordan Akal, who suffered an ankle injury in a loss Monday at Barboourville, the Harlan Green Dragons fell to 0-2 with a 59-49 loss Tuesday at Lee, Va.

Jacob Whitaker scored 17 to lead the Generals. Jaxon Collier and Logan Grace added 14 each.

Three Dragons combined for all but three of the team’s points. Sophomore guard Jaedyn Gist scored 18 and senior center Jon Eldridge added 16 to lead Harlan. Kaleb McLendon, a sophomore guard, chipped in with 12 points.

Harlan returns to action Friday at home against Middlesboro in a district girls/boys doubleheader.
