Whitley ends Bears’ 4-game winning streak

Harlan County’s four-game winning streak came to an end Saturday afternoon with a hard-fought 1-0 loss to visiting Whitley County.

“We just keep working hard and getting better and have finally been winning some games,” HCHS coach Tommy Key said. “I think we are learning each game and improving.”

Harlan County (4-6-1) will play host to Middlesboro on Tuesday.

The Harlan County soccer teams continued their recent hot streaks with a doubleheader sweep of Letcher Central on Thursday at the James A. Cawood field.

Natalee Bolin scored on an assist from Hannah Pittman for a 1-0 win over the Lady Cougars.

The 4-4 Lady Bears travel to Middlesboro on Tuesday.

Isaac Taulbee and Hunter Mefford scored goals as the Bears edged Letcher 2-1 for their fourth-straight victory.
