Whitley scores 13 in third to roll past Green Dragons

Whitley County blew open a scoreless game with a 13-run third inning on the way to a 13-0 win Wednesday over visiting Harlan.

Dylan Giles pitched four shutout innings to earn the win.

Caleb Rains hit a home run and drove in four to lead the Whitley offense. Jake Prewitt and Chance Dismuke had two hits each for the 22-8 Colonels.

Will Varner, Jared Hawkins and Evan Browning had one single each for Harlan.

Michael Robinson gave up two hits in two shutout innings on the mound. Wil McCarthy gave up nine runs (all unearned) in two-thirds of an inning. Varner allowed four unearned runs on one hit. Browning recorded the final four outs.

Harlan (9-13) will close its regular season schedule Friday at home against Williamsburg.
