The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises motorists that a portion of U.S. 421 in Harlan County (milepoints 3.2 – 3.8) will have intermittent lane closures, beginning today, and are expected to conclude July 30.
Two lanes of traffic will remain open with intermittent lane closures controlled by flagmen.
The intermittent lane closures are necessary due to construct a new 2000-foot section of U.S. 421 to alleviate roadway flooding near Cranks.
KYTC asks motorists to be aware of the work zone, expect delays and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.
The date, time, and duration of work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Motorists can access travel and traffic conditions at http://goky.ky.gov or contribute their own reports at www.waze.com or via the Waze mobile application.
