Noah leads Dragons to win over Black Mountain

Trent Noah scored 13 points to lead Harlan past Black Mountain 40-17 on Friday in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Zack Burgan paced Black Mountain with 11 points.

Harlan rolled to a 48-8 win in fifth- and sixth-grade action as Maddox Huff led the Dragons with 12 points.

Harlan rolled to a 35-13 win Monday over Green Hills in seventh- and eighth-grade action and won 43-12 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Trojans hang on for a one-point win at Wallins

It hasn’t been easy, but the James A. Cawood Trojans survived a second straight challenge this week and stayed unbeaten in county competition with a 38-37 win Thursday at Wallins in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Nathan Daniels scored 10 points to lead the Trojans, who won by earlier in the week against Rosspoint.

Daniel Carmical led the Purple Devils with 17 points.

Trenton Cole poured in 23 points and Evan Simpson added 12 as Wallins won 46-27 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Jaycee Carter led the Trojans with nine points.

James A. Cawood will play host to Green Hills on Tuesday. Wallins will play at Cumberland on Tuesday.

Rosspoint bounced back from a two-point loss Tuesday at James A. Cawood by coasting past visiting Evarts 63-27 in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action Thursday.

Isaac Kelly scored 19 points and Thomas Jordan added 12 for Rosspoint

Chase Sizemore led Evarts with eight points.

Brody Napier scored 26 points as Rosspoint won 59-24 in junior varsity action. Luke Kelly added 12 points.

Ashton Sizemore led Evarts with nine points.

The two teams played to a 13-13 tie in the fourth grade game.

Daniel Carmical scored 21 points to lead Wallins in a 54-25 victory Tuesday at Evarts in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Chuckie Blackshire paced the Wildcats with 12 points.

Evarts forced overtime in the fifth- and sixth-grade game, but Wallins recovered to win 56-49 in overtime.

Trenton Cole poured in 21 points to lead the Devils. Evan Simpson and Hunter Napier added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Benjamin Coleman paced Evarts with 15 points. Grayson Grills and Aiden Bunch contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Evarts won 13-3 in a fourth-grade game as Kobe Noe led the Wildcats with six points.

All three Harlan County team suffered losses against tough competition in the 13th Region Tournament for seventh- and eighth-grade teams on Saturday at Whitley County.

Cameron Lester scored 12 points to lead James A. Cawood in a 36-24 loss to Clay County.

Harlan fell 43-39 to Pineville as Trent Noah scored 17 for the Dragons.

Josh Sergent scored 14 and Tanner Griffin added 10 for Wallins in a 43-39 loss to Pineville.
