Dragons edge Trojans in JACES holiday tourney

Kyler McLendon’s basket in the closing seconds sent Harlan to a 40-39 win over James A. Cawood last week in the JACES Christmas Classic.

Trent Noah led the Dragons with 19 points.

Nathan Daniels scored 13 for the Trojans. Cameron Lester and Jeremiah Clem added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Maddox Huff poured in 21 as Harlan won 36-27 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Jaycee Carter led the Trojans with 11 points.

Noah poured 35 points as Harlan defeated Evarts 53-35. Maddox Huff added eight for the Dragons, followed by Tristan West with five, Dylan Cox with three and Hunter Clem with two.

No scoring information was submitted on Evarts.

Huff scored 18 and Nate Montanaro added 12 as Harlan won 35-31 over Evarts in fifth- and sixth-grade action. Will Shepherd contributed four.

Rosspoint wins two of three during Barbourville tourney

The Rosspoint fifth- and sixth-grade team won two of three games at the 2nd Annual Cougar Classic at G.R. Hampton Elementary School in Barbourville.

Jayce Brown scored 14 points in Rosspoint’s 46-18 win over Flat Lick. Blake Hensley and Brody Napier added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Napier, Brody Branson and Brown each scored 10 to lead Rosspoint in a 46-24 victory over Bell Central.

Blake Burnett scored 15 points and Elijah Hampton added 14 as Page defeated Rosspoint 43-36.

Napier led the Wildcats with 15 points.
