Visiting Harlan edges Lynn Camp for win

Emma Owens hit five of six free throws in overtime on Saturday as visiting Harlan edged Lynn Camp 61-56 in basketball action.

Aymanni Wynn and Angel Wynn each hit 3-pointers in the extra period for the Lady Dragons. Aymanni Wynn also added a basket.

Senior guard Angel Wynn led Harlan with 22 points, including six treys. Aymanni Wynn and Owens scored 16 and 15 points, respectively. Aymanni Wynn grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Abby Mabe paced the Lady Cats with 14 points. Freshman guard Jorja Carnes and senior forward Natalie Fanella scored 11 points apiece. Baileigh Blevins, a freshman guard, contributed nine points.

Harlan shot 33 percent (19 of 58) from the field and connected on eight of 25 3-point attempts. The Lady Dragons hit 15 of 37 free throws for 41 percent and had 36 rebounds.

Fanella had eight points as Lynn Camp took a 16-2 advantage after one quarter.

The Lady Dragons turned things around in the second period – outscoring the Lady Cats 19-8 – but trailed 24-21 at halftime. Angel Wynn scored 13 points in the quarter.

Aymanni Wynn poured in eight third-quarter points as Harlan took a 39-37 lead into the fourth quarter.

Lynn Camp outscored the Lady Dragons 11-9 in the period to force overtime tied at 48-all.

Harlan (4-9) is scheduled to visit Knox Central on Saturday and play host to Pineville on Monday.

The 7-9 Lady Cats are slated to host Burgin on Thursday before traveling to Model on Friday and Williamsburg on Saturday. Lynn Camp plays host to Harlan County on Monday and visits Barbourville on Tuesday.

Abbie Jones, an eighth-grader, scored six points as the Lady Dragons defeated Lynn Camp 20-19 in the junior varsity game.

Kaylee Clark and Annie Hoskins followed with five each. Emma Mulkey added four points.

Mackenzie Owens led the Lady Cats with 11 points while Julie Moore scored eight.
