Harlan girls defeated in Bell County match up

Bell County placed four players in double figures Monday in a 65-37 district victory over visiting Harlan.

Freshman guard Nadine Johnson led the Lady Cats with 18 points. Mataya Ausmus, a junior guard, scored 13. Ashtyn Myers followed with 11 points while Lauren McGeorge tallied 10.

Freshman forward Aymanni Wynn paced Harlan (3-8 overall, 0-4 district) with 15 points.

The Lady Dragons took a 17-15 lead after one quarter.

Bell County got eight points from Myers and seven from McGeorge in the second quarter and led 36-25 at halftime.

Kylie Noe scored six of her seven points in the second quarter for HarlanThe Lady Cats used a 14-5 outburst in the third quarter and took a 50-30 advantage into the final period. Johnson had eight points for Bell in the quarter.

Harlan was outscored 15-7 in the fourth quarter. Ausmus scored seven points in the period for Bell.

The Lady Dragons will travel to Harlan County on Friday and Lynn Camp on Saturday.
Bell County (11-2, 5-0) plays host to Whitley County on Saturday.

McGeorge poured in 20 points as Bell County rolled to a 50-24 win in the junior varsity game.
Kayleigh Cox scored 12 for the Lady Cats.

Harlan was led in scoring by Abbie Jones with nine points. Emma Mulkey followed with six points. Kaylee Clark added four. Annie Hoskins and Addison McLain each had two points and Goodman tossed in one.
