Emily Evans, a senior at Harlan County High School, is the Monticello Banking Company’s Student Citizen Award Recipient for January. Here, MBC Personal Banker II Kevin Cavins presents a $100 honorarium and the award to Evans. Monticello Banking Company is dedicated to this recognition program to honor outstanding students in the Harlan County and Harlan Independent school districts. Faculty and administrators from each district nominate students demonstrating exceptional academic achievement, leadership, sports and community participation. Evans is the daughter of Kimberly Kelly and Robert Evans. She has a 4.0 grade point average while earning 27 dual credit hours. She is a member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society, softball and archery teams, a WYMT scholarship recipient and a National Society of High School Scholars member. She is on track to graduate as valedictorian. She plans to attend the University of Kentucky in a pre-dentistry program.

Monticello Banking Company is dedicated to this recognition program to honor outstanding students in the Harlan County and Harlan Independent school districts. Faculty and administrators from each district nominate students demonstrating exceptional academic achievement, leadership, sports and community participation. The son of C.D. and Jennifer Morton, of Harlan, he is a member of the track, basketball and cross country teams. He has a 3.0 grade point average. Morton is a student mentor for the Special Education program and plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University or Western Kentucky University. He is undecided on his major.
