WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Lady Yellow Jackets’ final tuneup before Wednesday’s All ‘A’ Classic state tournament first round matchup against Glasgow went in their favor as they managed to pull out a 46-37 win over Harlan on Monday.

“Today was a tough game,” Williamsburg coach Randy Crider said. “Hats off to Harlan. They played us very well. They played really tough defense and any time we wanted to drive, they were making contact and being physical, and we didn’t like it. But at the same time, we did what we had to do to get the win.”

Senior guard Lillie Hall continued her impressive season by leading Williamsburg (13-5) with 21 points while connecting on 13-of-15 attempts from the free-throw line. The Lady Yellow Jackets held slim leads of 14-10 and 21-16 at the end of the first and second quarters before seeing their lead cut to 32-28 going into the fourth quarter.

Madison Chapman also scored in double figures during the win for Williamsburg by finishing with 13 points. The Lady Yellow Jackets will now switch their focus to Wednesday’s game against Glasgow (14-3), winners of seven straight, including last Friday’s 61-23 victory over Cumberland County.

Harlan (9-9) will play at Jenkins on Thursday.
