The following individuals were recently lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center:

• Michael Essary, 64, of Tazewell, Tenn., was arrested by Harlan City Police Department officers on Dec. 13. He was charged with operation of motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs/alcohol and criminal littering;

• Ronald Williams, 40, of Coldiron, was arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers on Dec. 14. He was charged with two counts failure to appear;

• Walter Smith, 65, of Versailles, was arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers on Dec. 15. He was charged with operation of motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs/alcohol, failure to wear seat belts, failure to produce insurance card, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, registration and title requirements for vehicle not operational on highway, no registration receipt, improper display of registration plates and disregarding a stop sign;

• Jon Thomas, 26, of Harlan, was arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers on Dec. 15. He was charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence; minor injury);

• Braden Estes, 22, of Wallins, was arrested by Harlan City Police Department officers on Dec. 16. He was charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence; minor injury);

• Michael Distefano, 49, of Baxter, was arrested by Harlan City Police Department officers on Dec. 16. He was charged with public intoxication of controlled substance (excluding alcohol);

• Brandon Jones, 35, of Harlan, was arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Dec. 17. He was charged with third-degree terroristic threatening, third-degree criminal trespassing, menacing and two counts failure to appear;

• Jesse Partin, 30, of Ewing, was arrested by court order and lodged into the detention center on Dec. 18;

• Jacob Caldwell, 22, of Bledsoe, was arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers on Dec. 19. He was charged with operation of motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs/alcohol;

• Jessica Smith, 33, of Lynch, was arrested by Harlan County Detention Center officers on Dec. 19 for drug court sanction;

• Tammy McKnight, 46, of Teetersville, was arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Dec. 19. She was charged with two counts theft by deception (including cold checks; under $500);

• John Shepherd, 48, of Gulston, was arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers on Dec. 19. He was charged with failure to appear, operation of motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs/alcohol, failure to produce insurance card, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, failure to wear seat belts, registration and title requirements for vehicle not operational on highway, no registration plates, no registration receipts, rear license not illuminated and no tail lights;

• Jackie Johnson, 49, of Harlan, was arrested by Harlan City Police Department officers on Dec. 20. He was charged with failure to appear.
