Carter, Rhymer lead JACES to victory

Led by Jaycee Carter with 11 points and Jared Rhymer with 10, James A. Cawood claimed a 42-29 win Tuesday at Rosspoint in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Colby Johnson, Brody Napier and Will Cassim led the Wildcats with six points each.

Rosspoint won a 39-36 thriller in fifth- and sixth-grade action by scoring five points in the final 18 seconds. Gunnar Johnson hit two free throws to tie the game, then Jayce Brown converted a three-point play after Rosspoint regained possession.

Brown led the Wildcats with 25 points.

Kaden Jones poured in 19 to lead JACES.

The Trojans fell 36-21 on Monday at Knox Central in seventh- and eighth-grade action.

Jared Rhymer led the Trojans with eight points.

Jake Brewer scored 15 points and Ethan Shuler added nine as Cawood won 39-8 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Rosspoint split a pair of games Monday against visiting Pineville, falling 58-40 in seventh- and eighth-grade action while winning 40-27 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Bryan Howard scored 12 to lead Rosspoint in seventh- and eighth-grade action.

Jayce Brown poured in 17 to lead the fifth- and sixth-grade squad.
