Sizemore powers Wildcats to victory

Ashton Sizemore scored 23 points and Aidan Reynolds added 11 as Evarts opened its regular-season schedule with a 59-44 win Thursday over visiting Black Mountain.

Reggie Cottrell poured in 25 points to pace the Tigers.

Led by 13 points from Hayston Bennett, Evarts rolled to a 44-21 victory in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Landon Caudill led Black Mountain with nine points.

Dakota Maggard scored eight as Black Mountain won 16-8 in a fourth-grade game.

Simpson, Daniels lead Devils to win

Ethan Simpson and Connor Daniels each scored 12 points to lead Wallins over Cawood 44-28 on Thursday in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Ethan Shuler scored 18 and Jake Brewer added 10 as Cawood coasted to a 39-14 win in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Jaycee Carter led a balanced James A. Cawood offensive attack with 10 points as the visiting Trojans defeated Cumberland 41-13 in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action Thursday.

Junior Sanchez led Cumberland with five points.

Terry Delaney scored 10 as JACES won 34-6 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Trojans’ rally falls short against Pineville

James A. Cawood rallied from 14 points down in the third quarter before falling 43-40 to visiting Pineville in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action Tuesday.

Ethan Rhymer scored 13 of his team-high 15 points in the second half to lead the comeback. James McMillian added 10 points.

Landon Brock scored 12 as James A. Cawood won 35-16 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Harlan extended its win streak to seven with a 50-46 victory Tuesday over visiting Fleming-Neon.

Three Dragons reached double figures, led by Maddox Huff with 14 points, Nate Montanaro with 12 and Jared Moore with 10.

Brady Adams and Gavin Gibson each scored 18 for the Pirates.

Harlan (8-2) returns to action Dec. 12 at home against Barbourville.

Cole Cornett scored 10 and Will Freyer added eight as Harlan won 33-24 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.
