Shawn Lind, marketing director at Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College, has been recognized for excellence in filmmaking. The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations recently awarded his short documentary “Hard Work Pays Off” a Bronze Medallion at the annual conference in Asheville.

According to Southeast President Vic Adams, this film highlighting student success was used in place of a traditional commencement speaker during the college’s May 2019 graduation exercises. “At Southeast, we want to put the focus on our students,” said Adams. “Who better to inspire our graduates than the students themselves?”

Lind said that he was “humbled” by this award. “I am just grateful to have had the opportunity to interview our amazing students and graduates,” said Lind. “And I am honored that my work helped to give them a voice. Our graduates are truly winners and deserve recognition, too.”

Lind’s film was among over 350 film, print, and photographic entries from colleges across the nation.
