Green Hills Elementary School was one of the first to participate in the Kentucky State Police mock lockdowns. The drills are designed to enhance school safety performance if a threat were to ever occur. “Our school performed very well and will continue to benefit from these types of experiences,” said GHES Principal Jonathan Perkins. “Student safety is our number one priority and these joint drills strengthen our collective ability to respond effectively in the event of a real emergency.” The drills will continue to be conducted at all Harlan County Public Schools through the month of September.
