Evarts Elementary School Family Resource and Youth Service Center (FRYSC) was recently named a state ‘exemplary site.’ Although previously presented during a state meeting, the award was presented to Amber Davis, Americorps Representative, and Lawrence Powell, Evarts FRYSC coordinator, during the board’s August meeting. Powell has been in the position for 25 years and “does an outstanding job eliminating any non-academic barriers to the education process,” said Harlan County FRYSC director David Hensley.
