Southwestern edges HCHS in scrimmage

Harlan County senior running back Ben Landis broke free for a big gain in scrimmage action Saturday against Southwestern at Union College.
In a rematch from last year’s 5A playoffs, Harlan County fell 14-7 to Southwestern in a scrimmage Friday at Union College.
Harlan County scores its touchdown on a 40-yard pass from Jacob Wilson to Justin Brown. Jordan Steele hit the extra point.
Senior defense back Cameron Smiddy recovered a fumble for the Bears.
The Black Bears will be back in action Friday at South Laurel in their second and final scrimmage. HCHS will open its regular season schedule Aug. 30 at Hazard.
