Harlan County teacher selected as co-presenter at national conference in Washington, D.C.

A local Spanish teacher affiliated with the Harlan County Public Schools district has been selected to serve as a co-presenter during the annual national conference of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 22-24. Emmanuel Anama-Green, Spanish II teacher at Harlan County High School, has been selected to serve as a co-presenter at this year’s national conference in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Anama-Green will present alongside Dr. Anne Connor, Professor of World Languages at Southern Oregon University, Ms. Erin Sunday, Spanish teacher at Yamhill Carlton High School in Yamhill, Oregon, and Ms. Ellen Haizlett, Spanish teacher at The Linsly School, a prestigious private school in Wheeling, West Virginia.
ACTFL received over 1,900 submissions this year from World Languages teachers from across the USA and abroad. Less than 50 percent of the proposals submitted each year are accepted for presentation at the national conference.
Mr. Anama-Green is a Spanish II teacher at Harlan County High School. He received his Education Specialist degree from the University of the Cumberlands and holds two master’s degrees from Southern Oregon University and Morehead State University. Mr. Anama-Green’s Master of Arts degree in Spanish Pedagogy from Southern Oregon University (SOU) was obtained at SOU’s campus in Guanajuato, Mexico.
The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) is the national association for language education professionals from all levels of instruction and representing all languages.
