Dayhoit man arrested for stealing ‘04 Jaguar

A Dayhoit man was arrested for allegedly stealing a 2004 Jaguar after police found his cell phone at the scene of the crime.

Christopher Maiden, 36, was arrested by Harlan City Police Department officers on July 8.

According to the citation, officer Derrick Noe responded to the report of a break-in at Creech’s garage. A 2004 Jaguar was reported stolen from the property, along with multiple other cars being broken into.

Harlan City Police Chief Winston “Wink” Yeary said a cell phone was left behind at the scene of the crime. It was later learned that it belonged to Maiden.

Noe allegedly found Maiden at his residence with the car parked in his driveway and the keys in his possession. Noe also discovered two small baggies believed to contain methamphetamine in Maiden’s wallet.

Maiden was charged with first-degree receiving stolen property ($10,000 or more) and first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Maiden was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with a full-cash bond of $3,500.

The case remains under investigation by Noe.

In other police activity:

• Harley Thompson, 27, of Cawood, was arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Office deputies on July 9. She was charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia and operation of motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs/alcohol. She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $3,500 full-cash bond;

• Roger Sizemore, 39, was arrested by Harlan City Police Department officers on July 9. He was charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine) and two counts operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs/alcohol. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on two full-cash bonds totaling $5,000;

• Bruce Madden, 47, of Evarts, was arrested by Evarts Police Department officers on July 9. He was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree criminal trespassing, alcohol intoxication in a public place (second offense) and second-degree disorderly conduct. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on an unsecured bond of $1,000;

• Johnnie Rogers, 42, of Cumberland, was arrested by Cumberland Police Department officers on July 10. He was charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts failure to appear. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on two full-cash bonds totaling $3,000;

• Cody Wynn, 33, of Evarts, was arrested by Evarts Police Department officers on July 10. He was charged with first-degree fleeing/evading police (on foot), fourth-degree assault (domestic violence; no visible injury), resisting arrest, six counts failure to appear, violation of Kentucky EPO/DVO, public intoxication of controlled substance (excluding alcohol), second-degree disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on eight full-cash bonds totaling $7,000;

• Brennen Hughes, 28, of Evarts, was arrested by Evarts Police Department officers on July 11. He was charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance (second offense; methamphetamine), second-degree escape, fleeing/evading police (on foot), possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, second-degree disorderly conduct, menacing and failure to appear. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on two full-cash bonds totaling $6,000;

• Crystal Eads, 42, of Cumberland, was arrested by Cumberland Police Department officers on July 12. She was charged as a fugitive from another state (warrant required) with first-degree possession of controlled substance, license to be in possession and failure to produce insurance card. She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with no bond set.
