Local teams advance to district play

The Tri-City All-Stars will open the District 4 Tournament (ages 9-10) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Perry County Park in Hazard against North Laurel. Clay County will play Pineville-Bell in the second game Saturday at 3 p.m.
The two winners Saturday will stay alive in the tournament, while the two losers are eliminated. Hazard/Perry will play Knox County at 5 p.m. on Saturday in the winners bracket, followed by Corbin taking on Pulaski County at 7 p.m. The Hazard/Perry loser will play the North/Tri-City winner on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Corbin/Pulaski loser will play the Clay/Pineville winner at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The District 4 Tournament (ages 11-12) will open on Monday at Corbin with the Area 2 winner playing the Area 3 winner at 6 p.m. Hazard-Perry County, the Area 4 champ, will play the Area 1 winner at 8 p.m.
Harlan, the Area 4 runner-up, will play the Area 3 runner-up on Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the losers bracket. The Area 1 and Area 2 runner-ups will play at 6 p.m. Harlan, with a win Tuesday, would play again on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
