Mozelle man arrested after allegedly cutting in-law

A man from Mozelle was recently lodged in the detention center after allegedly breaking into an in-law’s home and cutting him.

George Hoskins, 34, was arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Office deputies on June 27.

According to the citation, deputies received a complaint that a man was breaking into a home in Wallins on KY 219. Deputies arrived at the residence to find Hoskins in the home.

Deputies said Hoskins broke the glass out of the front door in order to gain entry into the residence. Hoskins also possessed a knife, which he allegedly used to cut his brother-in-law’s, Kevin Bernard, ear. Bernard said he was trying to remove Hoskins from the home when he was cut. Bernard’s children were also in the home at the time of the break-in.

Hoskins allegedly told deputies he had taken methamphetamine days before. Deputies concluded he was under the influence at the time of the arrest.

Hoskins was charged with second-degree assault, public intoxication of controlled substance (excluding alcohol), second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal trespassing.

Hoskins was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with a $2,500 full-cash bond.

• Timothy Foley, 30, of Harlan, was arrested by Harlan City Police Department officers on June 21. He was charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia and no tail lamps. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $2,500 full-cash bond;

• Wayne Middleton, 45, of Cawood, was arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers on June 23. He was charged with second-degree assault (domestic violence). He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $1,500 full-cash bond;

• Bentley Griffith, 28, of Evarts, was arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers on June 23. He was charged with public intoxication of controlled substance, third-degree criminal trespassing, failure to notify change of address to the department of transportation, first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a full-cash bond of $1,500;

• Donald Mekolyavitch, 62, of Evarts, was arrested by Evarts Police Department officers on June 23. He was charged with third-degree criminal trespassing, first-degree possession of controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and giving an officer false identifying information. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $2,000 full-cash bond;

• Houston Fugate, 28, of Baxter, was arrested by Harlan City Police Department officers on June 24. He was charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, flagrant non-support and contempt of court. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on $1,500 full-cash bond and an unsecured bond of $2,500;

• Shirley Lundy, 35, of Harlan, was arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Office deputies on June 24. She was charged with two counts failure to appear, first-degree trafficking controlled substance, third-degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified), possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and second-degree disorderly conduct. She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with a $2,500 full-cash bond;

• Christopher Engle, 42, of Grays Knob, was arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Office deputies on June 25. He was charged with two counts first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a full-cash bond of $2,500 with bail credit and an additional full-cash bond of $1,500;

• Adam Teague, 31, of Wallins, was arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Office deputies on June 25. He was charged with two counts first-degree trafficking controlled substance, failure to appear, first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), third-degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified) and illegal possession of legend drug. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on unsecured bonds totaling $3,500 and a full-cash bond of $5,000 with 10 percent bail credit;

• Brittany Parrot, 31, of Cumberland, was arrested by Cumberland Police Department officers on June 26. She was charged with first-degree promoting contraband, second-degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified), operation of motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs/alcohol, endangering the welfare of a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft by unlawful taking (under $500), no registration plates, no registration receipt and failure to appear. She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $5,000 surety bond and a $733 pay-or-stay bond;

• Caleb Ford, 25, of Harlan, was arrested by Cumberland Police Department officers on June 26. He was charged with two counts first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), two counts possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, third-degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified) and non-payment of court costs/fees/fines. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a full-cash bond of $3,500 and a pay-or-stay bond of $858;

• Brandon Trammell, 32, of Evarts, was arrested by Evarts Police Department officers on June 28. He was charged with theft by unlawful taking ($500 or more but under $10,000) and first-degree criminal trespassing. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with a $1,000 full-cash bond;

• James McMillian, 41, of Baxter, was arrested by Loyall Police Department officers on June 28. He was charged as a persistent felony offender II with first-degree unlawful imprisonment. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with a $3,500 full-cash bond;

• Robert Brock, 51, of Cawood, was arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers on June 28. He was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), alcohol intoxication in a public place, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, second-degree disorderly conduct and two counts non-payment of court costs/fees/fines. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a full-cash bond of $3,500 and two pay-or-stay bonds totaling $1,275;

• Paul Rouse, 27, of Harlan, was arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers on June 30. He was charged with second-degree assault (domestic violence). He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $1,000 full-cash bond;

• Tina Britt, 47, of Harlan, was arrested by Harlan County Detention Center officials on July 1. She was charged as a persistent felony offender I with theft by unlawful taking (firearm). She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with a full-cash bond of $3,500;

• Jason Haynes, 38, of Baxter, was arrested by Harlan City Police Department officers on July 1. He was charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), second-degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified), possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacturing drug paraphernalia, non-payment of court costs/fees/fines and possession of marijuana. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a pay-or-stay bond of $233 and two full-cash bonds totaling $3,750.
