Sheriff’s office makes arrest on burglary charges

On Wednesday, deputies with the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Harlan man on burglary charges. An arrest warrant was obtained by the sheriff’s office after an investigation into a burglary in the Three Point community. An additional warrant that was obtained by Harlan Police Department for a burglary in Harlan was also served.

John Drexil Donahue, 46, of Harlan, was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with bond currently set at $2,500 full cash. Additional investigations are ongoing and additional charges are pending.

On Tuesday, a traffic stop by the sheriff’s office on KY 72 resulted in an arrest of a Harlan woman on drug-related charges. Michelle Harp, 37, of Harlan was charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), third-degree possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating motor vehicle under the influence and failure to wear seat belt. She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with bond set at $2,500 full cash.

In other police activity, several Harlan County Circuit Court indictments were recently served by the sheriff’s office:

• Kathy Rice, 35, of Harlan, was charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication and persistent felony offender.

• Robert Middleton, 27, of Cawood, was charged with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, theft by unlawful taking (automobile), public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

• Toby Webb, 34, of Harlan, was charged with theft by unlawful taking (automobile) and second-degree forgery.

All three individuals remain lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
