Just two weeks after his performance on the Poke Sallet Festival’s main stage, Walker Montgomery will be performing at the Renfro Valley Entertainment Center in Mt. Vernon at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Making a lasting impression in Harlan during his performance, Montgomery met local World War II veteran Glenn Durham. Posting on his Facebook page, Walker said, “I had the pleasure of meeting this World War II Veteran the other day in Harlan, Kentucky. The sacrifices that our veterans have made in the name of liberty are beyond amazing. God Bless you sir and THANK YOU! It was an honor to meet you.”
Montgomery, who grew up in Nicholasville, is steeped in country music heritage. As the son of John Michael Montgomery and nephew of Eddie Montgomery, of Montgomery Gentry, Walker lives up to that heritage, and then some. His self-penned song “Simple Town,” which is the title track of his forthcoming EP, has already reached almost two million streams on Spotify alone and was released less than a year ago.
He is performing to standing room only crowds, at fairs, festivals and sporting events. His debut EP, Simple Town was released on Oct. 19 and his current single “Just Say When” has already garnered over 2 million streams. Walker’s debut video for the song world premiered on CMT and he is a featured artist in CMT’s “Artist Discovery” campaign.
His newest music video “You Heard It Here First” was a recent world premiere on CMT and is currently streaming on Spotify’s NEW BOOTS.
