Bears sweep three scrimmages at home

Harlan County ran its summer win streak to nine with three varsity wins Tuesday at home, defeating Pineville 76-46, J. Frank White Academy, Tenn., 64-36 and Leslie County 62-43.

Senior guard Taylor Spurlock was one of four Bears in double figures with 19 points against Pineville. Tyler Cole tossed in 16, followed by Jacob Wilson with 13 and Trent Noah with 12. Jackson Huff chipped in with six. Josh Turner scored four. Daniel Carmical, Hunter Helton and Jonah Swanner added two each.

Fourteen Bears scored against J. Frank White as HCHS won despite not having Spurlock for the game. Huff and Cole each scored nine to lead the Bears. Noah tossed in eight, followed by Carmical with seven, Wilson with six, Helton and Swanner with four each, Cameron Lester with three and Turner, Josh Sergent, Dylan Hicks, Cadyn Duncan, Jeremiah Clem, Tristan Cooper and Bradley Halcomb with two each.

Wilson poured in 19 against Leslie County. Turner added 11. Noah scored nine. Huff and Cole added eight each. Sergent scored three. Helton and Swanner tossed in two each.

The Bears improved to 4-2 in junior varsity action with a 50-33 win over Leslie County.

Freshmen Jeremiah Clem and Tristan Cooper each scored 10 points to lead the Bears. James Gray and Daniel Carmical added seven each. Dylan Hicks contributed six. Hunter Helton tossed in three. Bradley Halcomb, Jonah Swanner and Cameron Lester added two each. Josh Sergent scored one.

Harlan County and Harlan will play in the LMU Team Camp on Thursday through Saturday.
