Wallins man flown out following collision on US 119

On Wednesday at 2:33 a.m., Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call about a single vehicle collision on U.S. 119 in the Wallins community of Harlan County. Trooper Jake Spurlock responded to the scene and began an investigation.

Preliminarily investigation indicates Mark Stephens, of Wallins, was operating a white 2006 Ford on U.S.119 when he fell asleep, ran off the roadway and struck an earth embankment. Stephens failed to have a seat belt on at the time of the collision.

Stephens was flown from the scene to Holsten Valley Medical Center in Tennessee for treatment.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected at this time.

Collision is under investigation by Trooper Spurlock.

Also assisting KSP were Lifeguard EMS and Wallins Fire Department.
