Green Hills Elementary School students completed and presented science fair projects during the school’s science fair on March 26.

Students in grades 5-8 completed their projects as part of long-term assignments designed to foster scientific investigation. The projects provided student learning through the hands-on application of the scientific method.

The students were able to select topics they were interested in and then investigated them over a two-month period. During the investigation period, students documented their findings in a journal.

On March 26, representatives from the central office judged the projects and chose the science fair winners. After viewing all projects and compiling scores, the judges noted how difficult it was to select a winner due to the quality of the projects. The judges added student knowledge was apparent while they conducted their interviews.

GHES Principal Jonathan Perkins said the science fair was a success. Perkins extended his gratitude to teacher Vicky White, who supervised the projects as part of her teaching duties, and to Angie Howard, who provided “much needed support.”

Perkins also extended thanks to Jim Middleton, Bristol Belcher, Brett Johnson and Eric Bowling for their time and diligence while judging the science fair projects.
