Pair facing burglary charges

A man and woman are facing burglary charges after allegedly breaking into a house.

Pablo Garcia, 34, and Ashley Osborne, 34, were arrested by Cumberland Police Department officers on Monday.

According to the citation, an officer received a complaint of an assault. When the officer arrived at the home, he was met by the alleged victim, who told the officer that Garcia and Osborne entered her home by breaking the door. She told the officer that after entering her home, Osborne began assaulting her by pulling hair from her head and trying to hit her in the face.

The citation states Garcia was not on scene when the officer first arrived, but another unit stopped the vehicle Garcia was driving and continued the investigation. When asked to provide a license, Garcia was not able to do so. The vehicle also did not have insurance at the time of the arrest and was not transferred into Garcia’s or Osborne’s name. The vehicle had a temporary registration tag.

Garcia was charged with first-degree burglary, no operator’s license, failure to produce insurance card, failure to register or transfer a motor vehicle, non-payment of fines and failure to appear. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $5,350 full cash bond and a pay or stay of $653.

Osborne was charged with first-degree burglary, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), failure to produce insurance card, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license and failure to appear. She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $5,750 full cash bond.

• Lelia Almaraz, 54, of Harrogate, Tennessee, was arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers on March 4. She was charged with possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, alcohol intoxication in a public place (second offense), second-degree disorderly conduct and failure to appear. She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $10,000 full cash bond and $500 unsecured bond;

• Chastan Bennett, 32, of Harlan, was arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Office deputies on March 4. She was charged with first-degree trafficking a controlled substance (methamphetamine). She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center;

• Vickie Farmer, 63, of Loyall, was arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers on March 4. She was charged with failure to appear and was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $200 full cash bond;

• Jerry Gilbert, 38, of Harlan, was arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers on March 2. He was charged with failure to appear and contempt of court. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $3,000 full cash bond with bail credit and $500 full cash bond;

• Heather Jones, 35, of Harlan, was arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Office deputies on March 4. She was charged with contempt of court and was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
