The top four seeds moved on in the first round of the seventh- and eighth-grade county tournament on Saturday at James A. Cawood Elementary School.

Top-seeded James A. Cawood routed Green Hills 42-5 in the opening game as James McMiliian came off the bench to lead the Trojans with 11 points.

Jonah Swanner poured in 19 points as Cumberland coasted past Evarts 36-23.

John Long led the Wildcats with nine points.

Thomas Jordan and Cooper McHargue each scored 10 as Rosspoint defeated Cawood 49-12.

Dylan Hicks led the Comets with eight points.

Wallins closed the first round with a 57-35 win over Black Mountain. Tanner Griffin scored 12 and Cadyn Duncan added 10 to lead the Devils.

Zack Burgan paced Black Mountain with 17 points.

The semifinals are set for Tuesday at James A. Cawood as the Trojans face Cumberland at 5:30 and Rosspoint takes on Wallins at 7 p.m.

The championship and consolation games will be played Thursday at Harlan County High School.
