The Harlan Enterprise won first place for General Excellence in Advertising in the 2018 Kentucky Press Association contest.

The award is presented to the top newspaper in its circulation division and is the highest honor a newspaper can receive.

In addition, Melissa Johnson won 11 individual awards, including first place honors for medical advertisements, special sections, political advertising, best ad series, best online digital ads and best digital ad series.

She also won second place awards for special sections, sig page, political advertising and best ad series.

Johnson won third for entertaining/dining advertisements.

The awards were handed out last Friday during the Kentucky Press Association’s convention in Louisville.
