Sergent leads Devils to victory over Cats

Led by Josh Sergent with 21 points and Daniel Carmical with 15, Wallins won 60-55 on Thursday in a showdown of two of the county’s top seventh- and eighth-grade teams.

Tanner Jordan scored 22 and Isaac Kelly added 18 to lead the Wildcats.

Brody Napier scored 24 points, Jayce Brown tossed in 15 and Blake Hensley added 11 as Rosspoint won 61-37 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Evan Simpson scored 12 and Hunter Napier added 10 to lead Wallins.

Rosspoint won 19-4 in a fourth-grade game as Gunnar Johnson led the Wildcats with eight points.

Wallins closes its season Tuesday at Black Mountain. Rosspoint plays at Black Mountain on Monday.

Cooper powers Trojans past Evarts

Tristan Cooper scored 12 points and Nathan Daniels added 11 as James A. Cawood rolled to a 50-23 win Thursday at Evarts in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Evarts won 54-34 in fifth- and sixth-grade action as Benjamin Coleman scored 21 points and Aiden Reynolds and Ashton Sizemore added 15 each.

Kaden Jones scored 15 and Jaycee Carter added 13 for the Trojans.

Landon Brock led JACES to a 20-7 win in a fourth-grade game as he scored eight points.

James A. Cawood will play host to Cawood on Tuesday. Evarts will be at home against Green Hills on Tuesday.

Ryley Mefford led Black Mountain with 17 points

Black Mountain won 43-15 in fifth- and sixth-grade action as Reggie Cottrell led the Tigers with 16 points.

Cumberland plays host to Rosspoint on Tuesday. Black Mountain is at home against Rosspoint on Monday.

Carmical, Griffin lead Devils to a victory over Cumberland

Led by Daniel Carmical with 18 points and Tanner Griffin with 11, Wallins (14-3) coasted to a 46-29 win Tuesday at Cumberland in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Jonah Swanner scored 21 point to pace the 7-6 Redskins.

Evan Simpson and Connor Daniels each scored nine points and Trenton Cole added eight as Wallins won 35-14 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Aiden Craig led the Redskins with eight points.

Wallins travels to Rosspoint on Thursday. Cumberland plays at Black Mountain on Thursday.

Chase Sizemore scored 19 points and Chuckie Blackshire added 13 as Evarts (5-9) edged visiting Cawood 51-48 on Tuesday in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Dylan Hicks led the Comets with 23 points.

Evarts (6-6) rolled to a 42-23 win in fifth- and sixth-grade action as Ashton Sizemore scored 16 and Aiden Bunch tossed in 12 for the Wildcats.

Jason Fultz led Cawood with eight points.

Evarts won 14-4 in fourth-grade action as Kobe Noe paced the Wildcats with eight points.

Cawood travels to Green Hills on Thursday. Evarts will play host to James A. Cawood on Thursday.
