Sergent, Carmical lead Devils to win over Cats

Josh Sergent scored 11 points and Daniel Carmical added 10 as Wallins (6-1) defeated visiting Rosspoint 39-31 in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action Thursday.

Thomas Jordan led Rosspoint (5-3) with 16 points.

Brody Napier scored 10 points and Blake Hensley added nine as Rosspoint (11-2) won 45-24 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Ethan Simpson led the Devils with seven points.

Clem scores 17 as JACES coasts past Wildcats

James A. Cawood grabbed a comfortable lead early and coasted to a 45-24 win Thursday over visiting Evarts in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Jeremiah Clem poured in 17 points to lead the 7-1 Trojans. Cameron Lester and Nathan Daniels added eight and seven points, respectively.

Jayden Burkhart led the Wildcats with six points.

Evarts rallied in the fourth quarter to force overtime in the fifth- and sixth-grade game, then took over in the extra period on the way to a 47-45 victory.

Aiden Bunch led the comeback with 12 points in the fourth quarter and overtime on the way to a 20-point performance. Ashton Sizemore and Benjamin Coleman added 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Brennan Blevins scored 22 points and Kaden Jones added 17 for the Trojans.

Evarts travels to Green Hills on Tuesday. James A. Cawood plays host to Wallins on Monday.

Zack Burgan led the Tigers with six points.

Reggie Cottrell exploded for 27 points as Black Mountain won 44-17 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Aiden Craig led Cumberland with six points.

The two teams played to a 12-12 tie in fourth-grade action.

Both teams return to action Tuesday as Cumberland travels to Rosspoint and Black Mountain plays at Wallins.
